Bill Gates is a person who is known to everyone in the world. Even small children in the world around are familiar with the name. He is listed in as one of the well-to-do man in the world consistently for several years. We will see, how rich people can change the society with their contribution by discussing a small, but big contribution Bill Gates is giving to his society. That is teaching for the poor.

Bill Gates has formed a charity with his wife Melinda Gates to spread the tries to help poor students of different communities. The organization provides allowance for students who are coming from very low income families. They have named the scholarships as Bill Gates Scholarships. The students from different ethnic groups like Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and Asian and Pacific Islanders are privileged under this scholarship. There are various scholarships based on the need of each option.

The foundation provides different amount of contribution to different type of organization. For example, historically black colleges and establishment who gives contribution to unfortunate family, the charity provides contribution.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program is the main attraction for students. It is given to students who are excellent in their studious subject but are from low income families. The foundation does not insist a lot of form filling process to provide these scholarships.

Need is the main eligibility criteria for the scholarship. If a student scored low but has the strength to make good result, he/she becomes suitable for the scholarship. The current score will not become a barrier for giving the scholarship.

The Nationality also will not be a barrier for availing scholarships from the charity. If you are a permanent resident of US, you are qualified for the scholarship. The main vision of the establishment is to make students from different ethnic groups to enter into the science and technology field.

The amount provided as scholarship varies according to the course the students are undergoing. An undergraduate student will get an average of $7000/year. A graduate student will be provided with $15000 an year. This will not fully cover the cost of colleges for the student. But will cover the major portion of the coaching fee. The aim is to support the student’s family.

The student who receives the scholarship can look for any on campus job so that they can completely give the tuition price without depending anyone else or giving the burden to their families. Applying for any other scholarship prevent the students from the burden of student loans.
