Enhance Your Knowledge Through Distance Education

Saturday, May 30th, 2009
If you are in a career that is limiting because of the educational qualifications you have, you can make a change by taking up a distance education program. An online education program affords you the opportunity to further your educational status and increase your chances for a promotion at your job place.

Some online college courses are bogus and your inability to know the fake from the good ones can land you in hot water. Be careful not to trust any online distance education offer that looks too good to be true. Online education programs that offer you an education in the shortest amount of time should also not be trusted.

If you want to avoid fraud in your search for online college courses, it is not enough if it has an email address. You should make it sure that any online college that you have applied to has a physical address and a phone number that works. Bear in mind that a post office address is not an indication that an online college is reputable.

Distance education is also largely referred to as distance learning or online education. It is a field of education focusing on teaching and leaning, using Internet technology, and instructional systems. For the most part it focuses on adults, but more and more the younger generation is being involved in the design that aims to provide education to students who are not physically “on site” at the college grounds.

All over the world, notwithstanding the fact that it is considered obsolete in some several circles, many institutions still use radio broadcasts in distance education. In India for example, the FM Channel is still very popular and utilized by universities to broadcast educational programs. One cannot argue against its effectiveness in this wise because India remains one of the world’s leading countries in technology advancements.

Though distance learning has tackled a lot of problems in its long history, there is one problem that it is not going to deal with too soon. This is the issue of examination malpractices, or simply, writing tests under controlled situations. There is no simple way to guarantee that, so the schools and colleges play by ear as each year and each program comes.

Online education programs are designed for people who have little time on their hands and are looking for a flexible study option. These are often patronized by full time housewives or workers with very little very time on their hands. Distance learning is a program that keeps the educational torch burning in the face of constraints or other commitments.

Lots of audio and video cassettes have been utilized in the past. One daunting fact that limited them was their cost and bulk. Electronic technology has PDAs, mp3 players, etc., today that continue to proliferate online education in a way that is bigger than what used to avail through the course of the three centuries the practice has been on. Anyone can now do distance learning without breaking their backs.

Online Education Degree – 7 Things You Must Do Right to Succeed

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Want to accomplish a Teaching Degree in your own time? Then consider online education if it suits you.

The ability to obtain an online education degree has opened the educational doors for many students who cannot afford to attend school on campus as a full-time student.  Distance learning courses definitely provide some advantages over the traditional college education. But, because of the methods of delivering and receiving the material, students must consider the 7 things necessary in approaching an online education successfully.

1. Choosing the best education online institution – Make sure the institute for higher education chosen has adequate resources and accreditation recognized by the proper authorities.  Unless authenticity can be verified, find another school.  Sadly, unscrupulous degree mills offer degrees with short-term or no real education. Thus, the diplomas are bogus and absolutely worthless. Find a school that provides solid education, ample student support, and the facilities necessary to succeed in your distance learning.

2. Evaluate the cost and benefits – Generally, obtaining an online education is a costly venture. Most people do not realize the cost is often more than a traditional education.  So, it is important to evaluate the desired online education degree, and determine whether the benefit of future income opportunities will offer the reward for gaining an online degree.

3. How do employers view an online education degree? – There are many instances where employers were skeptical about the legitimacy of online education degrees. With so many “diploma mills” out there, it’s warranted for employers to be cautious. Although an online education degree might be legit, it would be very helpful to the employer if you provided the type of accreditation your college has beforehand to avoid any misunderstanding. By letting the employer know in advance that your institution was accredited by an institution that is recognized by CHEA and US department of Education, you will be a step ahead in qualifying for that dream job.

4. Discipline, determination, and time – First time distance learning students are often surprised by the amount of discipline necessary to stay on task and complete the online assignment.  It takes unfaltering determination to achieve an online education. In addition, without regularly scheduled classes, it is essential to exercise good time management skills. To keep focused, without the physical presence of educator and peers, it is important to establish communication with other students to have another push toward success in your education degree online

5. Utilize all the facilities provided – Online courses generally provide online lectures and email correspondence to ensure a means of communication with instructors, tutors, and fellow students.  Take advantage of every opportunity to utilize these resources of motivation and encouragement, as well as establish a sense of connection with the college or university.

6. Make use of credit transfers – Many online education degree colleges allow students to transfer their credits from courses they took in previous colleges, whether online or traditional. By doing this, it means students don’t have to repeat courses they learnt before. For this to be effected, it’s important for a student who intends to pursue an education online to make sure they get transcripts and results from their previous universities or colleges and make them available to their accredited online college so they can be passed as transfer credits.

7. Make use of the educational technology – Accredited online universities offer a plethora of opportunities for doing necessary research and other facilities to ensure adequate completion of the course.  Normally, the cost of virtual libraries, the programs to access online lectures, and even student online access and e-mail accounts are factored into the cost of the course. Therefore, it only makes sense to use all the technology available to make the most of the educational opportunity in achieving an online education degree.

How to Make the Most out of You PowerPoint Presentations

Friday, May 29th, 2009

I’ve always had a bit of a love and hate relationship with PowerPoint presentations. Despite their effectiveness, many people still perceive them to be cumbersome and old fashioned. I have just read a book by Cliff Atkinson, writer of ‘Beyond Bullet Points’, who believes PowerPoint to be the software device that’s insipid rather than inspiring. Nevertheless, PowerPoint remains a cornerstone of contemporary education delivery. Thus, if you wish to avoid inflicting death by PowerPoint, let’s look at what you can do to keep your presentations slick, informative and alive!

Consider each presentation as a series of small details, just as if it was a Website

Shape the structure of your PowerPoint presentation like a website. Everyone pays enormous attention to detail concerning the branding of their website – your presentation should be the same. Aesthetic concerns are paramount, and your presentation should look polished and well-designed. Use a theme going throughout and avoid the use of bright contrasting colours, as they will distract your audience from what you’re trying to convey.

Stay away from the ClipArt!

Utilise high grade graphics from stylish stock image sites to add a vibrant quality to your slides. There are several sites where you can buy photos for as little as $1 – a sound investment! Some personal favourites of mine include Stockxpert, Shutterstock and iStockPhoto, however there are lots more out there, so if you are curious, do a search on Google for “Royalty Free Stock Photography”.

Less is More

Don’t fill up your slides with non relevant text – make them simple and straightforward. Sometimes actions speak louder than words. With PowerPoint, your primary goals is to convey these actions through your images. The presentation is a visual guide of what you’re dicussing – not something in place of the presenter. Even if it’s a simple line or quote, less is often more.

Use 3D

Give your diagrams extra character by making them three dimensional, and they will grab hold your viewers attention much more than any flat, boring diagrams. This works really well with pyramids, and it will make your objects leap off the page, instead of being static and boring.

And Finally… Don’t Over Animate

Going animation crazy and overdoing the movement on your presentation is definitely not a good idea. Having items whizzing in and out from all over the place, moving sideways and bouncing up and down – will only confuse people. Should you wish to employ animation in your presentations, stick to simple and stylish fading in and out. Leave the flying about to your favourite cartoon characters!

Follow these simple steps and your presentation should be a pleasure to watch, rather than an uncomfortable coffee break, and if you decide that all of this sounds like too much hassle – hire a virtual assistant to do it for you!

The Best Educational Experiences in Washington, DC

Friday, May 29th, 2009
Educational travel can give teachers and administrators a boost in exciting many students about their academic lessons. Travel brings curriculum to life while teaching lessons that students will need throughout their lives. As a former middle school principal I found that educational travel goes hand-in-hand with offering a total educational program to young adolescents. This is even more important today as teachers and principals are facing increased pressure to prepare students to pass mandated academic tests.

During my years teaching in middle school, I learned that young adolescents can gain a multitude of invaluable experiences from travel, learning both the information they will be able to apply in the classroom and skills that will help them develop personally. Unfortunately, some young people will never be able to take educational tours without involvement with their school. So, middle school educators can contribute to a young adolescent’s complete education when they include education travel in their program.

Once you’ve decided to include travel in your student’s education, there are important plans and decisions that will affect the overall success of their travel experience. This article focuses on selecting the best educational venues in Washington, DC for a class or grade level trip.

The best time to consider such a trip is during seventh or eighth grade when the middle school social studies curriculum focuses on U.S. history. An educational trip to Washington, DC coinciding with this year can provide substantial benefits to both the individual and the school as a whole.

All student groups that visit Washington, DC should tour the White House and the US Capitol. Their educational links to the classroom are countless. It’s important to note that the popularity of these two sites coupled with the recent increase in national security now require that an appointment must be prescheduled by a Senator or State Representative.

Next, I recommend visiting as many of the following as possible:

- Ford’s Theater and the Peterson House

- Arlington National Cemetery

- Smithsonian Museums

- Washington Monument

- Lincoln Monument

- Jefferson Memorial

- Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial

- Iwo Jima Memorial

- Korean War Memorial

- Vietnam Veterans Memorial

- World War II Memorial

All of these sites have strong ties to the social studies curriculum and, best of all do not charge an admissions fee. Once you have decided to include them in a travel itinerary, the key is to make sure the students receive the strongest possible educational connections during the actual visit.

You can easily increase the educational value of the visit by using a reputable student tour provider that specializes in educational travel to plan your trip. To begin with, their experience will help prepare an itinerary that sequences the stops so that the students are not overwhelmed with information. Their experience will also present you with strategies for planning effective group visits. I strongly recommend you ask the travel provider about adding Washington, DC guides when visiting the monuments and memorials. Their historical knowledge base will only enhance the educational experience.

Another outstanding educational venue is Arlington National Cemetery. In addition to visiting the John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Challenger Astronaut Memorials, your student tour provider can schedule a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns. This ceremony adds depth to the educational value of the visit and allows those students selected for the ceremony the rare opportunity of interacting with an Army Honor Guard member.

A visit to the U.S. Holocaust Museum can be extremely educational especially if the students have studied this era in American history and/or read The Diary of Anne Frank in English class. The museum is self-guided. The emotional impact of the tour, coupled with their collection of newsprint, historical video and news reporting provides an outstanding educational experience for all visitors.

A student trip to Washington, DC should also include a visit to Mount Vernon – the estate of George Washington. The new Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center, and a tour of the beautifully restored estate, outer buildings and the grounds have strong educational value.

Finally, I recommend that student groups traveling to Washington, D.C. schedule a cultural activity. Exposing young people to the arts and culture is invaluable to the overall development of the individual. One of the most popular activities is attending a theatrical performance at one of the area dinner theaters or a performance at the Kennedy Center. The theaters schedule age appropriate productions like “Beauty and the Beast or Fiddler on the Roof” to help make this opportunity both educational and entertaining.

In summary, educational travel to Washington, DC can add an important dimension to the total learning program at your school. I strongly recommend that you consider adding travel to the curriculum and visiting as many of the aforementioned venues as possible for the best educational value.

Cultivating Minds Through Health Education

Thursday, May 28th, 2009
Education is the ladder to success. It includes both the process of learning and the manner of teaching. The word also implies the proper conduct, cultivation of skills, and moral development of a person. But can education give us the kind of life we are seeking for? Can education give us all the things that we wanted? How powerful education is?

People need education for him to be responsible enough. Education opens up the door of development and the windows of opportunity for us to show up ourselves in the society. Education may take different forms. It can be verbal or in the form of actions. It can be obtain by enrolling ourselves in universities, academies, state colleges or in simpler word, school. These educational institutions teach, nurture, and develop the skills of every student. This is the place where a responsible citizen of his country is molded.

Education, in general, is a very broad topic to discuss that is why we really need to divide it into pieces for us to understand about what education really is. Aside from this, it is useful for it transformed an uncivilized man into a modern one, it is also a way to change man‘s life. Health education for example is a form of education by which individuals or groups of people learned to behave in a manner that contributes to the maintenance and promotion of good health. It also helps the individual to develop sense of responsibility for it requires self-discipline in personal hygiene. We have a saying that behind a productive man is a healthy mind, body, and soul.

Health education, as part of General Education, is a thing not to be set aside. It is indeed a great way in uplifting our standard lifestyles and transforming ourselves into a more responsible and mature citizens. It not only teaches prevention and basic health knowledge but also conditions ideas that will re-shape everyday habits of people. Yes, it only focuses on health aspects but then health is wealth. Education added by health is a very powerful weapon for it does not hurt anyone, but it can kill illiteracy that is one of the reasons of man’s downfall.

There is a saying from John Dewey, an American philosopher, psychologist, and educational reformer, that education is not a preparation for life, it is life itself. From this, we can get the idea that if we have education, we know life. If we know life we know everything.

Real Estate Education

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009
Real estate education according to it very basic description refers to education about real estate. Indeed, there are many things to learn about in real estate. In many developed countries, real estate education is a highly developed field. There are entire institutes that are developed for this profession. Also, there are many regulations that apply to this field. Therefore, it can be said that there are two branches of learning that essentially apply to real estate education; one is the legal face of real estate, and the other include the technical aspect.

The technical aspects of real estate education are many. There are indeed many things to learn about in this field. This is because of the specialization brought to this field. Indeed, the real estate field has become increasingly specialized for more than one reason. Not only has it been refined because of technological advancement, but also because of the importance that is now given to customer service. Like many other fields, customer service has affected the real estate field. A great many real estate deals often depend on customer service, and this is why a lot of attention is now being paid to it.

Whenever real estate business have new ideas to implement, customer service is always given due consideration. In real estate education, students are taught about paying attention to the importance of customers whenever they come up with an idea.

Apart from real estate education involving awareness development for customer service, there is a myriad of other important aspects. These aspects include ideas like market demand, which in itself includes aspects like convenience in a locality.

Most real estate education centers will teach you about the ‘convenience’ factor. This convenience refers to how close a residence may be to shopping centers, hospitals, schools, etc. http://education.ixs.net  People are most likely to select homes that allow them to reach such important places at their convenience and in the shortest possible time. Some of these places need to be reached on a daily basis. For examples, children need to attend schools at least 5 times a week. Families are more likely to purchase or rent homes that can facilitate them in this way.

Real estate education also teaches students about the cost factor as well. The cost of a home is most likely to correspond with the type of locality it is in. This is because homes that are considered to be in convenient locations are high in demand. This demand factor is what pushes the value of homes higher. However, there is a limit placed on how much a home may cost in most developed countries. This is where the legal aspects come into action.

The legal aspects in real estate education allow a student to learn about various important issues. Some of these issues include the costs of homes. They may also include learning about the formal paperwork for homes, which is a very important process in real estate business.

Indeed, the legal side of real estate education is quite extensive, and this side influences a great deal of a real estate agent’s business. In a real estate agent’s daily dealings, legal aspects apply. Therefore, the importance of it cannot be emphasized more.

Real estate education, as we have briefly seen above, is an interesting field. It allows students to learn about the entire industrial setup of the real estate industry. This includes the technical aspects as well as the legal aspects.

Real estate education is now a specialized field, and it is becoming focused as time progresses. While technological advancement has played a role in this, so has customer service awareness has had a tremendous impact. Therefore, a lot of the specialization that a student learns about in real estate education is influenced by customer service awareness.

There are many real estate education centers available to students who want to learn about this field and make their careers in it. These centers provide complete training and short courses that prepare individuals to act efficiently in this field. There are also online courses available for those who do not have the time to physically attend classes. All teaching materials and instructions are supplied online. While one may think that this is not a feasible way to learn, it is actually a way of learning that is growing more and more popular. Hence, real estate education can also be availed online too.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

With skill finding entry in almost all the spheres there have come about so many gadgets for our need. It might not be probable for every person to realize the working of these gadgets and hence appears the need of User manuals . User manuals are needed to make clear dealings vital for the common man to use , install or make a product. Here the writers market, user’s manuals are an abnormal niche that is forever in requirement . A user manual is used to make you carry out systematic assembly of the product so that you confident with the whole process and do not find it very confusing . Technical user manuals also try and integrate simple language when illustrating things as they have to keep it in mind that they are meant for a realize the technical jargons. Regardless how simple or difficult the matter or creation can be, when creating a user manual you have to suppose your reader has no prior practice or consciousness responsiveness with the subject topic every essential steps and backdrop in sequence for the user to successfully complete with DIY terms.

The other book that is sure to find its attendance in almost all family is that of the World book encyclopedia . There were times when we would grab the old book encyclopedia as and when we met something that we did not know and wanted to find more about it. The same holds true for now also but now one has the choice of leafing through the pages of the old book encyclopedia online. The online version of the old book encyclopedia has resulted in increasing the access of this book and making it accessible to a larger more good, but they are not always constantly written. evaluating books on the same topic side by side is hard because they are all different lengths, have dissimilar for a well written, dependable orientation that will tell you a little bit about just about everything.

Education at any stage of life can prove out to be a very enriching experience. The government releases a motivation package almost every year where it earmarks the areas it will focus its funds on. Among the many direct needs which are not a part of the motivation package, are Adult and community education programs. People who cannot pay adult and community education fees should be subsidized. Surprisingly, the main focus has been on bailing out failed banks and large corporations who don’t seem to know how to run their industry. Adult and community education programs lie at the heart of a prosperous society. With an aggressive, subsidized, adult and community education mandate, this number will only increase.

A Guide To Your Online Education In Law

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

A Guide To Your Online Education In Law

Law is one of the most popular degree topics today and with very good reason. In the modern world, there are many types of law practice that are aired regularly. Criminal law is in more demand than ever, changes to laws in the last fifty years or so have made property lawyers in serious demand, divorce lawyers also get a lot of work put their way, and then of course there is the suing culture that we all live in is to blame for many of the liability and personal injury law firms that exist. With so many opportunities and many jobs going at any given point in time, then it is no wonder why a good percentage of students want to advance in the world of law. However, not all of them get the opportunity.

That should actually read that they did not get the opportunity before online education was invented. Law is an extremely popular subject and is offered by a high percentage of the online schools, colleges and universities out there at the moment. Even online colleges have a limited number of places every semester and there are usually very few to spare. Very few people drop out either, because it is so prestigious and an individual will need a law degree to make it into a firm after graduation. You should therefore make sure that you training is as much fun as possible because you will be stuck with it for a few years!

It is essential that you investigate all options before tying yourself to one specific online education course. The sheer range of courses online will be mind blowing and you will soon see distinct difference between the content and the structure of one course to another. No two courses are the same so it would be foolish to decide on one before vetting the rest.

However, it is not just course content that you should look at. In law, as I am sure you will realise if you want to go into the field, reputation is everything. It counts for far more than past results, and this applies to the place you studied at too. It will rarely make a difference if you trained online, but it will if you do not go to an accredited school and one with a reputation for turning out excellent law candidates.

Once you have looked at the reputation of online education then you will be able to narrow your list down, but not nearly enough to make a decision on that alone. It may be wise to look at who the different courses are aimed at because some specialize in a certain law, age group or social group. Some may only offer courses designed to give those with a knowledge of law already a boost so that their careers can advance, whereas others will take an individual with no knowledge of law and educate him or her to the highest level. You should make a shortlist of the ones that offer the kind of education that you need and compare that to the reputation list. This will leave you with a few potential schools and make it easier to decide from there. This whole process could take months of research and planning but it will be worth it for your career in the end so you should take the time and make the effort.

If you have made the decision to take law at an online education then you have made a big step forward, and one towards changing the rest of your life, and that can only be a good thing. You always reap what you sow and if you put in the effort to find the best possible school and course for you then good things will happen! Just remember that you have to put the effort in when doing to work online as well!
